Prepare your VFD for 2025

As we move towards the end of 2024, it is time to make 2025 better for your fire department, for your volunteer firefighters, and for your community.

  • Recruit an Administrator. Chiefs should be mentoring & growing people and department capabilities & culture, not pushing paper.
  • Migrate to Responserack for 2025, and use 2024 to ease into this change.
  • Prepare for the NFIRS to NERIS migration.
  • Improve your records keeping in 2025; Incidents, Training & Truck Checks

Use the time available to avoid an end of year or start of year rush, and keeping the transition painless for everybody. Positive change made easy.

Volunteer Fire Administrator

Fire operations is what saves lives and property, allowing the putting of wet stuff on red stuff, but fire administration is what keeps the department running smoothly, what keeps the lights on. Fire administration is important, and a burden on Fire Chiefs to the point of distraction from mission. Recruit a volunteer administrator and you’ll thank yourself.

Migrate to Responserack for your VFD

Responserack is increasingly becoming the primary choice for volunteer departments. Not only is it state of the art technology, from mobile app to cloud infrastructure, it is the only system designed solely for volunteer firefighters. Responserack does what we need, and what the career firefighter focused systems do not.

Migrate in 2024 and have your firefighters hit the ground running for 2025.

From NFIRS (or No Reporting) to NERIS

NERIS is coming in mid to late 2025, and now is a perfect time to migrate to Responserack to minimize the impact of NERIS on your firefighters. Learn about NERIS via Responserack, then allow Responserack to simplify the migration for you & your team.

Improve your Reporting in 2025

Fire Incident Reporting is the foundation for your department but to really improve your ISO rating, and improve your chances of an AFG grant, you'll also want truck checks and training records. Responserack makes these easy.

Start with a calendar of training, allowing your membership to see what is coming up & register for trainings. Maintain your per member attendance and you can both use this information for any annual award or service requirements.

Apparatus maintenance records, and truck checks, are a great way to engage your firefighters and allow them to contribute to department response readiness.

RESPONSERACK VOL FIRE DEPT SOFTWARE Just a brief update today. Some insights into these NERIS types ... Apparatus / Units and Locations One of the benefits of the reworking of NFIRS to NERIS is filling some of the bigger gaps, many of which have just grown over time. This is the case for both locations and apparatus/unit types. NERIS Locations - Place Details NFIRS helped locate a place (e.g. an address or intersection), but NERIS helps locate a place within a place (e.g. Section 30, Row 12,...

RESPONSERACK VOL FIRE DEPT SOFTWARE NERIS builds upon NFIRS: A firefighter recently joked that NFIRS stood for “Not Functional In Real Situations”, and certainly it does have limitations when it comes to describing incidents. NERIS allows more flexibility in reporting the type of incident, supports capturing important new data, and brings mapping capabilities (like GIS.) Learn more below ...
